The price of CNC tooling can have a dramatic impact on how competitive your project bids are. Yet, most companies often discard CNC tools that can be cut and reconstructed to factory performance for less than half the cost of new. Did we say less than half? Yep! And, depending on the length and edge use, this can be performed multiple times before the tool would need to be put out of service. Knowing what tools can be rebuilt without sacrificing performance is key to maximizing their lifespan.
Why regrind your cutting tools?
A handful of tools can be worth thousands of dollars. When a tool is reconditioned, they're almost as good as new. Reconditioned tools work at the full capacity of their new counterparts. Each time a tool is reconditioned, the service life of the tool is extended.
So, what makes us different from other services out there?
Today's tooling often incorporates increasingly complex geometry and precision that demand advanced expertise and machinery to replicate. We've invested in top-of-the-line CNC machines.
Our Walter Helitronic Power CNC tool cutter grinders run state of the art Helitronic Tool Studio CAD/CAM grinding software. Walter Heli Toolcheck CNC tool inspection machines provide fully automated, high-speed inspections that are repeatable and accurate within 4 microns.
Expertise is critical.
If you've been in this industry for any length of time, you know the game - people move from company to company with the frequency of changing socks. At True Tool, every detail, every process, every cut, is made at the senior level, with over 35 years of experience. This means you avoid the costly mistakes that come with inexperience, such as improperly cut tooling that does not perform as expected or worse, damages expensive materials and equipment.
How it works
There are three levels common to tool reconditioning:
Resharpening. While every tool is different, most can be resharpened to factory performance with little or no reduction in size as long as the surfaces have not been chipped or cracked. Our CNC sharpening service provides ultra-precise duplication of original tool geometry.
Resharpening with surface reduction. Some tools can be brought back to factory performance with a slight reduction in surface geometry.
Cut and remanufacture. Tools with sufficient length can be cut and reconstructed to original specs. This process is surprisingly affordable. Tools are cut, CNC machined to original specifications and recoated for like new performance. For critical geometry, detailed specs are required.
